The H-Bridge topology, also known as a Full Bridge, is very common in power topologies requiring current to be passed through a load in both directions. A H-bridge can be configured using MOSFETs or Bipolar devices however in the majority of applications, FETs are used for efficentcy. H-Bridges are essential in areas like motor drives where the motor rotation direction (CW or CCW) is determined by the current passing through its windings. H-Briges are also used in AC inverters, Buck-Boost converters, Audio power amplifiers and a variety of other applications.
