A Band Pass filter is a type of filter that passes only a range of frequencies specified by the lower and upper cutoff frequencies. A Band Pass filter may also be described as a center frequency and bandwidth. Bandpass filters are often used to select a “band” of desired frequencies while removing unwanted signals from “out of band” frequencies. They can be used for signal processing, audio processing, RF applications and numerous other applications. Bandpass filters are also commonly used to prevent aliasing in analog to digital converters that use undersampling for down conversion.

Practically all of our custom ASICs contain a filter of some kind, many of them are bandpass. These filters may be implemented using a switched capacitor topology, Gm C topology, traditional RC designs or many other techniques.
