An Agile ASIC™ is a trademarked term for Triad Semiconductor’s patented analog, mixed signal and digital via-reconfigurable ASIC solutions. Also known as Via Configurable Array (VCA), an Agile ASIC contains analog and digital resources that can be configured and interconnected by making a single mask layer change, namely the via layer between two metal layers dedicated as a global routing fabric on the ASIC. Via-only reconfigurability means that an Agile ASIC can be fabricated and new devices delivered in weeks compared to months associated with traditional full-custom only ASICs. Furthermore, respin costs are a fraction of a full-mask set respin because only one mask (a single via layer) needs to be fabricated and processed against staged wafers.
